Venetia is one of many Italian political regions. Much of this architecture is captured in acrylic original art

The location of the city on the Adriatic Sea has made it a very lucrative trading center and this has been so dated back to 800 AD.
It would gradually guild a colonial empire that was a very strong sea power of which their influence extended into the eastern Mediterranean.
At the peak of its power it was referred to as the "Queen of the Adriatic".
The islands of Venice are affected by the surrounding water. It influences most of a Venetian's daily life from what they eat,
where they live and how they get around. The main course for a Venetian dinner is typically seafood.
Buildings and homes are built on posts and not solid ground.
The very first settlers of Venice were refugees from invading Barbarians in 400 AD. The Barbarians were attacking Italy from northern Europe.
The economy, early on, was entirely trading and fishing. Eventually, the Venetians made their way in search of new markets up the coasts of the Adriatic.
Venice was then able to trade with mainland Italian cities, Constantinople and along the northern coast of Africa. It became a city state,
which was independent and ruled by nobles.
During the Fourth Crusade, the ships of Venice were used to transport troops and supplies from 1202-1204.
The people of Venice had joined Crusades and through their battles finally defeated the Byzantine Empire which included Constantinople.
Venice was growing in strength and engaged in war with their rival, Genoa, for sea power. In 1380, Venice was able to take control
over the eastern Mediterranean Sea trading having defeated Genoa. During the 1400's, the colonial empire reached the height of its
power and included the Dalmatian coast, Crete, the northern coast of Italy and Cyprus. Their ships nearly had a monopoly on trade
in the markets of spice, luxuries and silks that were transported from Asia to Europe. In the later 1400's and 1500's, Venice was
the center for Renaissance art.
Floods have badly destroyed or damaged many of Venice's statues and paintings in the past. Many organizations and private
donators have raised money to help the government of Italy to pay for the repairs. Italy has taken steps to protect the ancient
statues and structures from pollution and flooding.
Grand Canal | Original Acrylic Art on Canvas by Veny
Venice, Italy is a city world renowned not only for its unique means of transportation, but for a rich history in art, architecture,
and beauty. Nowhere is this better exemplified than on the Grand Canal.
The view and perspective gained from such a low point is unique, and gives the ability to view more detail than imagined.
While the canal is extremely narrow and shallow, it is still extremely crowded by gondolas transporting people to various locations,
and the random motor powered boats, despite the impracticality of them. The one speed boat portrayed in this piece lets us know that
it is set in modern day Venice. Gondolas and large row boats are the primary and most practical means of transportation across the canal,
and also the cheapest to use, operate, and maintain. The Venetians prefer to use their money for other, more extravagant means, such as
their incredible architecture.

The detail put into each building are carefully thought out by the builder and designer, who was often an artist himself.
They may have taken years to design just right, and about the same to build. The technology used, even in ancient times,
was not too far off from what is still used today. The durability is a result of time, effort, and knowledge.
Veny has done a magnificent job capturing the beauty of this city on canvas. She has provided an immense amount of detail.

The different kinds of architecture that can be found in Venice are a delight for the eye. The gothic architecture of some
of the palaces is remarkable and truly a site to see. One other amazing marvel of Venice is the opera house, Teatro La Fenice.
It was ironically named La Fenice, which translates to the Phoenix, despite having been burned to the ground twice.
At the widest point of the Grand Canal is the Piazza San Marco which is also referred to as Saint Mark's Square.
It is at the heart of Venice and is a giant city square and its fame is that so many of the Venetian historical buildings
are right next to it. It is also the center of the water transportation system. Some of the most important activities in
religious and political history have happened in this square. The square is truly an Italian masterpiece of architecture
