Small Acrylic Paintings on Canvas | Art by Veny

There are several things involved when calculating the value of a painting. The most important aspect is the artist. If Leonardo drew one line on a white piece of paper and signed it, the price of it would be sky high. An artist that hasn't been discovered yet could spend over a month working on a painting that could be sold for a thousand dollars.

If a celebrity status isn't involved, then the next thing that should be considered is the quality of the painting - how preserved it is, and is it cracked? The brushwork and technique of the artist can also increase or decrease a painting's value.

Cityscape Paintings

As artists grow, their work becomes more valuable. Some of them reach a celebrity status that turns their works into very expensive masterpieces. However, money is not the only thing that makes a painting valuable.

Paintings that are worth less than $100,000 can be appreciated for their true quality. This doesn't mean that million dollar paintings are bad; it simply means that new painters don't have a "Being Famous" value added to their work yet. Talented painters will get this value in time.

When buying a painting it is important to look at the brushwork and details. A good example of buying a quality painting would be James D Taylor's Whispering Brook. This painting is valuable because there is a depth to it. The shading is also very good and realistic. There is a nice contrast between the girl and the rocks behind her. This contrast is achieved by painting the background and the girl with completely different pigments. As a result the girls stands out instead of being part of the painting. All these things are taken into consideration when determining the value of the painting.

Landscape Paintings

Every style of art has its own things to look for. Realism is just one genre, but it is a very impressive one. In order to truly appreciate a painting's worth; a person needs to see it in a gallery. The internet is a great location for figuring out the basic characteristics, but it cannot truly reveal a painting, for example. If the 3D technology becomes advanced enough, then maybe soon people can appreciate art in a completely different way.

Marine Paintings

If a person doesn't think Wow! When he or she sees a painting, then its price does not matter. The most important thing that makes a painting valuable is that its owner enjoys is greatly. As a painting ages, its value inevitably increases. However, a person needs to take care of it well in order to preserve it. Paintings that haven't been well preserved will drastically lose their value.

Purchasing art as an investment is also a good idea. Those purchases do not have to be displayed if the owner doesn't like them. However, investors that spend more time looking, will inevitably find a work of art that they can enjoy on their wall. As an artist becomes more popular, so does his or her entire work.
