Acrylic Paintings Price Low | Art by Veny

Acrylic paints are relatively new. Although their history dates from the 1950s, they have quickly become very important in the art world. One of the reasons acrylic paints are so popular is that they dry really fast. There are many famous artists who have experimented with acrylic. They have discovered various ways of mixing these paints with other art techniques. Some of the famous names include Robert Motherwell, David Hockney, and Andy Warhol.

Acrylics have their own unique feel and look, but when they are mixed with water, gels and pastes they can be made to look like watercolors or oil paint. This provides artists with the freedom to do whatever they like with their canvas.

Modern Art

Adding texture to a painting can easily be done with acrylics. They can be very thick, and are often used to create a 3-D canvas. Such artwork provides artists with yet another way to express themselves. The texture of this medium allows painters to play around with shadows and perspective. Looking at a painting from one angle will have a different appearance than looking at it from another angle. Lighting will also have an effect on the way an artwork is perceived.

Working with acrylic paints is quite different than handling other types of paint. Since they dry so fast, a person really can't take a break from his or her work. Mixing in additives can slow down the drying process to several hours. This has both a positive and a negative side. Some artists like taking their time and working on a painting for months. Others would like the process to be faster, so they don't waste time.

Famous Painters

Robert Motherwell was an abstract expressionist who drastically changed the way acrylic paint is viewed. In his work, he mixed the paints with charcoal and pencil, in order to create something completely new and unique. His work is often recognized by the main use of the color black accompanied by a shadow effect.

David Hockney has used the acrylic paints to create very realistic pieces of artwork. He is most famous for the series of swimming pool paintings. This award winning painter is successful in making the acrylic medium resemble watercolors and oil paints. His award-winning painting Peter getting out of Nick's pool is proudly displayed in the Liverpool National Museum.

Another great name in the acrylic technique is that of Andy Warhol. This painter allows others to see that acrylics can be either bold or soft. Some of his famous paintings are the Campbell Soup Cans - 32 individual paintings of soup cans.

Acrylic paints are unique because artists are continuously discovering new ways to use them. Their texture allows them to be mixed with a variety of items such as rice, pasta, beads, and anything else that a painter would like to include in his or her artwork. These paints allow individuals to truly express themselves and challenge their creativity to come up with new ideas. Although acrylics can be used to resemble watercolor and oil paint, they do bring their own unmistakable style and texture to the art world.
