The artwork shows a well taken care of two
story colonial brick house garnished with beautiful rose bushes in dark red and white.
Lavender bunches can be seen near the entrance of the house which is well maintained with white painted windows frames and main
entrance cover. You can feel the volume of the rose bushes and the deep perspective of the anchor brick wall on the right side.
Bricks are realistic and lively touched with light and shadows by Veny's brush.
Newburyport is also well known art center where local artisans exhibit their works. There a quite few shops and
art galleries located
within close walking distance from city's picturesque waterfront, and just steps from its center. Former manufactures and factories
brick buildings with their exposed wood beams compliment the art atmosphere and create a special feeling for Veny. She loves visiting
Newburyport to meet sunrise with a cup of coffee over to the yacht docks, then look around in the art galleries and antique shops and
finish the day watching the majestic sunset on the Merrimack River...
In 1934 after the big fire that nearly destroyed entire Newburyport city officials adopted new laws where all buildings shall be built going
forward from bricks or stones. In addition it was required a brick or stone fire preventive wall between building. These fire blocking walls,
which separated buildings from one another, can still be seen today along State Street and Market Square. Even further steps were taken to
preserve the city - building laws were passed that the brick buildings should not have timber fronts framing at the entrance ways. The front
openings for door and windows frame must be of cast iron or stone made. A cast iron production company was found shortly in Newburyport to
supply the created demand of cast iron, and the cast iron factories did have a steady business.
Due to the extra precocious measures those buildings and their cast iron framed fronts, doorways and windows are being well preserved till today.
They are quite unique and magnificent in their beauty, attracting many artists
and inspiring creation of distinct cityscape artworks. You can go
and look at them as Veny does quite often; it is well worth your time. They are a very detailed decorative work of cast iron. Many have been painted
over in various colors and consist of elegant design in their manufacture. Compared to the age of other old buildings around United States some 80 years
may not seem much but for city like Newburyport preserving historical and architectural face is a much important as its own existence.
