When we enter the world of dreams during sleep, we subvert a plethora of laws strictly enforced by reality. The notions of time, space, and matter
as well the principles that govern biology are all disregarded as a world that is both familiar and strange imposes on us a logic that is its very own.
For this reason, a dream can be described as a dance between the possible and the impossible, a song of our subliminal as well as conscious wishes,
a page on which anything can be written by our mind and emotions.
These descriptions, however, are simply metaphors that do not exactly say what dreams are, but approximates their essence by means of imagery,
likening a dream to a dance, a song, and a page. Nonetheless, it only seems appropriate for metaphors to be used to describe dreams. After all,
the trope parallels the mechanism by which dreams inherently operate-that is, dreams, according to one prominent school of thought, operate on symbols.

What one sees in a dream, therefore, however absurd or even logical it may seem must not be taken at face value, and should be interpreted by someone who
possesses adequate knowledge of archetypes and symbols. A dream involving one appearing naked would mean vulnerability or fear of exposure, a dream with cars
could be signaling a desire for freedom, while a dream of a road could be saying something about direction or decisions.
What is often more important is the dreamer's personal life. This means that a dream always points to the issues and concerns that are being confronted
by a dreamer at the time the dream was had, or even problems that the dreamer has had from as early as his or her childhood.
Dreams, therefore, may be used to understand these matters more deeply, although the correspondence between dream symbols and their meaning is not
always so clear-cut. It is further complicated by the possible relationships between one symbol and the actual experiences that a person has. Thus, even
with long lists of dream symbols and their corresponding meanings, dream interpretation operating on this framework, is tough and complex.
Of course, on the other side of the spectrum, there are those who believe that dreams are meaningless. They are simply random imagery that do not need to
be connected to ideas like freedom, insecurity, or opportunity, particularly because they have no
relation. This, of course, eliminates the exercise of making correspondences-which may have a huge tendency for error-between a dream and its meaning.
Whether one believes dreams have meaning or not, they continue to be fascinating inexhaustible springs of inspiration and insight that would perhaps
otherwise be impossible to obtain if we merely had to rely on objective reality. It is perhaps, a comforting thought for some, that when one is out of
ideas, or just needs a little escape, all that he or she has to do is to close the eyes, and hope a dream would arrive.
